You can expect your entire kitchen to smell like heaven every time you grind your fresh coffee! You will find unique aromas, sophisticated flavors, and bold energy to power you through!
We believe you will like them so much you probably will not want to use any cream and sugar.
First, we select specialty grade, organic beans from around the world. Then we go through a meticulous roasting development process for each coffee we carry to express its maximum potential. Finally, we guarantee to ship your specialty coffee on the same day as the roasting. This provides you with the utmost freshness possible!
The short answer is: premium coffee with higher standards of quality than regular commodity coffee.
“The Specialty Coffee Association defines specialty coffee in its green stage as coffee that is free of primary defects, has no quakers, is properly sized and dried, presents in the cup free of faults and taints and has distinctive attributes.” Please find the entire article from the SCA here.
We know we want specialty coffee that has been roasted properly. But what’s so good about coffee being fresh?
Coffee is no different than the foods we consume. Most of the useful properties, flavors, and aromas are only conserved for a relatively short time. It is a good rule of thumb to drink the coffee within two weeks of the roasting date, especially if the bag has been opened.
Please take advantage of the zipper that is part of the bag. Every time you finish brewing, close the bag tight, and try to keep it in a cool, dry place.
During the roasting process and for the following few days, the coffee releases most of its CO2 (carbon dioxide) within the bean. Even though this happens because of freshness, too much CO2 can be counterproductive. Typically this produces uneven extraction during brewing and some sour flavors as well. That is why we believe it is best to let the coffee degas for 24hs after the roast. If you order online, you don’t have to worry since most of this happens during shipping. Our bags have a one-way valve that allows the CO2 to escape, but no air to come inside to minimize oxidation.
We typically roast 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. We work hard to deliver the freshest and fastest products to you. We do not want you to wait: if you place the order before 1 pm EST, your coffee will be roasted the same day and shipped out. If you order after 1 pm EST, your coffee will be in the queue for the following day.
Like good wine, Specialty Coffee is very complex. Our ultimate goal with the roasting process is to find the best roasting profile for each coffee we carry. We try to express the best characteristics of each coffee through the roasting process. It is our responsibility to find each coffee’s potential.
We take pride in our rigorous method of roasting development. It is a long process of trial and error, quality control, and cupping.
Whole bean coffee stays fresh longer. When the coffee is ground, the surface area increases; this allows the environment to start affecting the coffee very quickly, oxidizing, and staling the coffee.
To take advantage of specialty coffee, you should grind your coffee right before brewing.
If you don’t have a grinder, don’t worry! We now offer different grind sizes you can select based on your brewing method.
Also, we have curated and selected excellent options for affordable manual grinders. These are the best bank for your buck and a worthy investment at the start of your coffee journey.
(Unfortunately, we do not control the inventory for our gear. Please bear with us if you see something out of stock). If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please reach out to us.
